Disciplinary Policies and Regulations

a. Fruitful and productive learning will materialize only in an environment where there is proper decorum and order in its truest sense. As such, enforcing systems of policies and regulations with corresponding penalty will serve to guide the students and provide them control of their behavior.

b. Students of PLO should behave as worthy members of the society. These policies should protect the dignity of the institution in the off campus activities and in the larger community.

c. In cases of policy violations, parents/ guardiansof pupils/ students concerned ust be informed of their child’s case and must be present in the committee proceedings when called for by the school.

d. All disciplinary hearings shall be recorded in the Discipline logbook and shall be signed by the attendees in the hearings.

e. Violation of Rules and Policies shall have corresponding sanctions.

GENERAL RULES

1. Every student has the duty to uphold the ideals and integrity of the school and always strive to achieve academic excellence in whatever endeavor and maintain sound moral standards.

2. He/ she must be;

a. truthful and honest in his/ her word, deeds and actions, courteous and should have concern for others.

b. groomed, must wear neatly pressed and complete uniform and clean shoes.

c. punctual in coming to class, on time in submitting his assignments and projects on or before required date of submission.

d. respectful to teachers, school, personnel, other authorities, fellow students and others.

3. He/ She must;

a. observe silence in the library, in the formation, in the classroom and in other areas where there should be a quiet atosphere.

b. conduct himself properly in the hallway, the library and other places in the school.

c. use the name of the school with repect.

d. wear the school ID always within the school premises.

e. use properly and take care of the school facilities.

f. should not bring cellphone to school.

g. should not bring deadly material to school.

PUNCTUALITY AND TARDINESS

Punctuality in the class and in line formation when there are assemblies is required from every student.

1. There is a General Assembly for all students every First and Third Mondays of the month at 7:30 a.m.

2. Students must be in school at 7:20 a.m. to be on time for the assembly. Any student who comes late shall just stay at the back of the line and shall get an admission slip before entering the class if he is late for personal reason.

3. Any student who comes a minute after this official time set is considered late and must get an admission slip.

4. The first period teacher in the morning and in the afternoon shall not accept the student without an admission slip.

5. Habitual tardiness is a serious offense and shall be penalized.

ATTENDANCE AND ABSENCE

1. Every student is expected to be regular and punctual in attending classes. Students shall not be absent without a valid reason.

2. The pupils/ students are responsible for all the assignments and projects given during their absences.

3. Special tests/ quizzes may be administered to pupils/ students who get absent for official reason, but they should submit a letter to that effect.

4. A student who incurs 20% or more absences (about 36 days) of the total number of school days will be dropped from school and shall not be given credit as per DepEd regulation. The teacher should give special consideration by giving make-up quizzes, test and special projects.

5. Absence due to illness shall be supported by a letter from the parent or with a medical certificate.

6. No Excuse Letter, No Admittance policy will be strictly enforced to all pupils/ student who are absent from their classes for valid reasons.

7. After the day of absence, the student must get an admission slip from the Discipline Office. He should submit an excuse letter duly signed by his parents/ guardians to the Discipline Officer and /or to the Principal for his/ her approval if needed, before he is given the admission slip.

a. The school reserves the right to determine the validity of the letter.

b. No student/ pupil who has been absent can enter the class without an admission slip.

c. The admission slip shall be submitted to the class adviser/ subject teachers who handles

the first period class in the morning or in the afternoon. The class adviser then shall keep

the admission slip and use it as basis for the attendance grade of the students and

for guidance purposes.

8. Excused absence is an absence from the class that is officially authorized by the school, such as attendance in off-campus seminar and competitions, joining contest or activities during class hours and attending urgent meetings etc.

a. Sickness is considered as excused, but such absence will also be added to the student’s

total number of absences.

b. Excused absences shall also be added to the student’s total number of absences.

c. Double Absence will be recorded for the attendance record of students who are unnecessarily absent from school during the following occasions.

c1. Before and after a declared holiday or activity on occasion or days as announced by

the Principal; and

c2. During the day of the activity.

9. For planned absence, a student who knows in advance that he / she will leave the school during class hours within the day or for some days during the week for personal reasons or previous scheduled appointment, must submit 2 copies of a letter from his/her parents or guardian to the principal three days prior to her absence for the issuance of an Off-Campus permit or absence permit.

Leaving The School During Class Hours or During Lunch Break

1. Once already in school, a student cannot just leave anytime he wants without permission.

2. For official information about leaving the school, any of the following procedures can be done:

a. The student presents a letter from his parent or guardians to his adviser.

b. The parent or guardian can send a text message with his name on it to the class adviser.

c. The parent can call the school thru secretary.

3. If the student needs to leave the school during school hours, the student must first secure an OFF-Campus Permit from the Secretary before he leaves. This should be accomplished in two copies, one copy for the student and another copy for the school file.

4. The Off-Campus permit should be signed in the Principal’s office/ Discipline office by:

a. the student

b. the class adviser

c. the parent or guardian or driver or any person delegated by the parent to fetch the student

d. by the Principal.

5. The student and the parent/guardian shall also sign the Log Out book in the Discipline office and shall submit the accomplished and signed OFF-campus permit to the secretary.

NOTE:These procedures should be followed because the school is responsible for the safety and security of all the students from the time they enter the school premises in the morning until the time they leave during the dismissal time at 4:30p.m.

Calling out Students from Class

1. A call slip shall be presented to the subject teacher in the class to inform him of the need of the student to leave his class.

2. The teacher shall sign the call slip.

3. Only faculty or any Office Personnel with the approval of the Principal can call out a student from his class.

4. A student who is taking a test or quiz may NOT be allowed to leave her class unless the slip is marked urgent.

5. If it is just food that should be brought to the student, there is no need to call out the student from his class. The food can just be placed in the Secretary or principal’s office.

Disciplinary Measures

1. All offenses are subject to disciplinary actions from warning, suspension to expulsion, depending on the gravity of the offense and its circumstances.

2. Grievous offenses such as bringing deadly weapons, inflicting injury, wide destruction of property of others and the school, as well as serious quarrels shall be penalized with suspension.

3. Any violation of such disciplinary policies shall compel the school to take necessary disciplinary action.

4. All offenses shall be reported to the Discipline Officer for the disciplinary sanction to be taken.

NOTE:

- Disciplinary actions are corrective measures, which are given to students who fail to comply with the provision on the student decorum. The primary objective of this disciplinary action is to discipline students and guide the parents.

- Disciplinary Sanctions refer to the penalty applied to an offense either major or minor.

DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

Processes to be followed with regards to Offenses and Corresponding Sanctions to be undertaken.

The Disciplinary action to be taken will vary for a minor offense and a major offense.

Processes to be taken with regards to offenses against the rules given by the school

1. Parents or Guradians will be notified either by phone or through letter each time serious misconduct/ complaint is reported against the student.

2. The Discipline Officer/ principal will issue a form containing the offense/s committed by the student/s and the parent/ guardians should affix their signature at it.

3. The slip must be return to the office of the principal the next day the student is allowed to attend class.

4. All minor offenses of the student/s are recorded in the logbook of the class adviser and then forwarded to the Discipline Officer/ principal.

DESCRIPTIONS OF SANCTIONS

1. Off- school suspension

- a penalty for serious or for repeated violations of school regulations. This means that the student shall not report to school and shall be given 50%deduction from his conduct as punishment for him.

2. Dismissal

- imposed on students under probation at the end of school year, if and when the pupil did not improve in conduct or academic performance after having gone through year of probation. in special cases, the school reserves the right to suspend or dismiss a student from the school any time during the year depending on the gravity and frequncy of the offenses made.

3. Immediate Exclusion after Conference with Parents (Art. XIV Sec. 77 of the manual or Regulations for Private School)

4. Probationary Status

4.1. Academic Probation is a disciplinary measure given to a pupil student whose average is below 80%. the student must take remedial classes or tutorial classes.

4.2. Character Probation is another disciplinary measure given to a student with 15 or more tardiness within the year and had committed gross/ habitual violation of school policies rulues and regulations.

4.3. Disciplinary Probation is a final chance given to students who have accumulated serious offenses or misbehavior. he shall be placed under close monitoring.
